Glenapp Castle Location

Glenapp Castle is located just south of the village of Ballantrae in South Ayrshire, South West Scotland. 

The castle is open seasonally closing from 2nd January to mid-March each year. 

In order to preserve the peace and privacy of The Castle and Grounds for our guests, we are not sign-posted from the main A77.  Please note that the grounds are accessed via automatic gates so a reservation is essential for both resident and non-resident guests.

By Road

Arriving from the north, the castle is one and a half hours south of Glasgow by car taking the A77, and two and a half hours south west of Edinburgh taking the M8 then M77/A77 (click to view detailed printable directions to Glenapp Castle from Glasgow).

From the south and east, the castle is approximately two hours west of the M6 at Gretna Green, taking the A75, then A77 (click to view detailed printable directions to Glenapp Castle from M6).

By Air

The castle is a one hour drive from Glasgow Prestwick Airport, (click to view The Glasgow Prestwick Airport web site for destinations and car hire) with frequent daily flights to London Stansted, Dublin and many other European destinations such as Paris (Beauvais), Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Hamburg (click to view the Ryanair web site).

Glasgow International Airport (click to view the Glasgow Airport web site for destinations and car hire) is one and a half hours from the castle, and provides flights to all London Airports as well as direct flights to other destinations within the UK and Europe and cities worldwide including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, Dubai, Geneva, Munich, Paris and many more.  We are happy to arrange airport transfers by taxi, executive saloon, MPV or limousine.  Helicopter transfers are also available, as is car hire.

By Train

The nearest railway station is Girvan (click to view National Rail web site for rail timetables). We are happy to arrange car transfers to and from the station.
