HOTEL RECEPTION MANAGER - NORTH WEST CASTLE HOTEL

Role Description: 

North West Castle is located in Stranraer (Dumfries & Galloway) just 10 minutes from the ferry ports of Cairnryan to Belfast.  The town centre is just 2 minutes’ walk from the hotel.  There are many attractions within close proximity including, The Castle of St John, Stranraer Museum, The Isle of Whithorn, RSPB Nature Reserve and Mull of Galloway Visitor Centre and Castle Kennedy Gardens.  There is also a variety of golf courses including Stranraer & Dunskey at Portpatrick.

With 73 bedrooms, a curling rink, conference & banqueting, restaurant and bar facilities, this is an ideal location for guests visiting for business and leisure.  We are looking for a professional, highly organised individual to lead our Reception team, who will also provide a warm welcome and efficient customer service in a busy environment.  Reception duties involve handling phone calls, quoting rates and making reservations by telephone or email, entering reservations from individuals, companies, travel agents, tour operators, carrying out daily quality checks, checking guests in and out of the hotel, dealing with guest enquiries and requests.  Cash handling is included and responsibility for floats.

Overseeing the day to day running of the Reception Desk, managing a team of six, the Reception Manager will be responsible for reservations tasks including the management of groups, staff induction and training.  Shifts are typically from 8 am – 4 pm or 4 pm – midnight, on a rota basis and weekend work will be required.  Hours of work will be as the business requires (5 days out of 7).

Required Skills/Experience

  • Previous Reception (or similar) experience is essential
  • Strong people management skills
  • Previous experience of a computerised Front Office System is advantageous
  • Excellent IT skills are essential
  • High standard of personal presentation 
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Customer service experience is essential and an understanding of hotel operations is advantageous
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Due to the nature of this role, the ability to handle a busy workload and deal with a variety of tasks at one time will be required, ensuring that all tasks are completed on a timely basis prior to handover to the next shift

HOTEL RECEPTIONIST - CALLY PALACE HOTEL & GOLF COURSE

Role Description: 

McMillan Hotels are currently recruiting a Receptionist for the award winning 4 star Cally Palace Hotel & Golf Course in Gatehouse of Fleet with 56 bedrooms, bar, restaurant, conference and events space, leisure facilities and 18 hole parkland golf course.  We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic individual to join our Reception team, who will provide a friendly welcome and efficient customer service to our guests.  Main duties involve handling reservations either by telephone or email, entering and updating reservations from various companies and travel agents, carrying out daily quality checks for correspondence, checking guests in and out of the hotel, dealing with guest enquiries and requests including the golf element of the business.  Responsibilities will also include handling cash, credit card payments and floats.  This role will require policies and procedures to be followed consistently, therefore attention to detail is essential.  Reception shifts are generally early (7 am – 3 pm) or late shifts (3 pm – 11 pm) on a rota basis (5 days out of 7) and weekend work is required.

HOTEL PORTER - NORTH WEST CASTLE HOTEL

Role Description: 

Full time Hotel Porter required for North West Castle in Stranraer.  The job will be on a full time basis and successful candidates will be required to work shifts - 5 days out of 7 - mornings, days, evenings and nights.  Further information and wage will be available at interview stage.  The job will involve all aspects of Porter duties within a very busy hotel, providing excellent customer service.  This includes helping guests with luggage, assisting staff, assisting with making ice in our curling rink, dealing with enquires and any other duties as required.
