Cycling in The Scottish Borders
Scotland’s top mountain biking centre is at Glentress Forest (part of the 7 stanes project). Glentress Forest is just 2 miles away from The Hydro.
There are currently 5 mountain bike waymarked routes in Glentress Forest. Starting at the historic cycle trails aimed at children and families, an interesting way to explore the forest and its history to the blue, red, and black mountain bike routes which provide a challenge for all abilities.
The trails are considered to be among the best in the world. All routes are constructed to be weather proof and so are rideable all year round.

Golf Breaks in The Scottish Borders
- One of the most picturesque regions in Scotland, the Scottish Borders makes the perfect setting for golf - and there is no shortage.
Peebles Golf Club boasts an 18-hole upland golf course of great character. It offers an excellent challenge for all golfers - the tough opening holes are balanced by a more generous stretch where the eighth and ninth lead you back down the hill towards the clubhouse. The course is considered one of the finest in the Borders for the quality of its turf, greens and the stunning views. It is a prime example of a challenging Scottish upland golf course.
Fishing on The River Tweed
The River Tweed runs right through the heart of the Borders, offering many challenges for anglers.
Enjoy the salmon fishing on the River Tweed or the course fishing of the lower Tweed. Rainbow trout can be caught in the local lochs and wilder brown trout in the rivers.
