Located just outside Newton Stewart, Kirroughtree House is a haven of calm and tranquility. From the moment you arrive at Kirroughtree Country House Hotel, you will begin to feel the cares of the outside world melt away. Our Newton Stewart hotel enjoys acres of space to relax amid some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside.
One of our friendly staff will be there to welcome you personally to the hotel and show you to your luxurious room. Kirroughtree is an ideal retreat from modern life, whilst still close enough to larger towns like Dumfries for day excursions. Accommodation at the house combines elegant public rooms with spacious and comfortable bedrooms.
The Lounges
Sink into the sumptuous sofas and relaxing armchairs of our oak-panelled lounge, surrounded by beautiful period oil paintings and opulent drapes. Our separate Major’s Lounge, named after the previous owner Major Armitage, offers views of the gardens with your morning coffee or afternoon tea.
Both lounges are perfect places to browse the evening’s menu over pre-dinner drinks and canapés. After dinner retire there again to savour a fine cognac or liqueur, coffee and petit fours over conversation or perhaps a game of bagatelle with fellow guests.

Elegant Bedrooms and Suites at Kirroughtree House’s Newton Stewart Accommodation
Our 17 bedrooms and suites range from generous standard rooms through larger deluxe rooms to the elegant Regal Suite, originally built in 1890 as the library wing. Bedrooms may enjoy panoramic views over the grounds and ancient forest down to the River Cree which meanders towards the sands of Wigtown Bay.
All rooms are spacious with their own sitting area. The feel is much more elegant country house than hotel room accommodation. Fresh fruit and sherry, as well as tea and coffee, await your arrival. There is Freeview TV for your entertainment, while fluffy bathrobes and towels bring a luxurious touch to each bathroom. For guests with dogs, the lower ground rooms are ideal, each with easy access to the grounds.
