Visitors to see double as Borders and Galloway are ‘twinned’
The first guests to take advantage of the twin centres package were a couple from Bangor, County Down - who gained a further bonus of discounted travel with Stena ferries!
The couple booked four nights at the Park Hotel in Peebles in late May, followed by three nights at Kirroughtree House in Newton Stewart: A perfect combination!
They chose to sail between Belfast and Stranraer on board the luxury Stena HSS, at reduced prices as part of McMillan Hotels’ “Irish Connections” package designed for visitors from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
“We are looking forward to welcoming our Irish guests to the Borders, and then arranging their smooth transfer to our sister hotel in Galloway,” said Park Hotel Manager Lawson Keay.
“Enjoying the best of two of Scotland’s most scenic regions is indeed plain sailing!”
Two of Scotland’s most beautiful and unspoiled regions have been combined into one holiday breaks package believed to be the first of its kind in the country.
McMillan Hotels, which recently bought the Peebles Hydro and Park Hotels in Peebles, are celebrating the group’s expansion by offering complimentary bottles of wine and room upgrades in the package which offers stays at top hotels in the Borders and Galloway.
“These regions are among the most attractive in the whole of Britain, providing a great range of activities for all ages,” said McMillan Hotels’ Director Douglas McMillan.
“We believe that a single, easy-to-book holiday, giving guests the best of both worlds, will be very popular.”
He added:
“Moving from one hotel to the other is simple since the regions are only a couple of hours’ drive apart. Guests can rest assured that their arrangements are being handled by one family-owned hotels company with common high quality standards, and will find new places and activities to explore at either end.”
McMillan owns seven hotels in Galloway and the Borders. In addition to those in Peebles they are the Cally Palace in Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirroughtree House in Newton Stewart, the North West Castle in Stranraer, the Fernhill in Portpatrick, and Glenapp Castle in Ballantrae.
Guests will be able to choose two hotels - one in each region - and stay a total of at least five nights, paying the standard rate for the appropriate hotel but benefiting from an automatic room upgrade where available and receiving a free bottle of wine at each destination.
Bookings will be handled by the hotel which is initially contacted. Rates start from £59 per person per night, including dinner, bed and breakfast. Three of the hotels have leisure centres, including swimming pools, saunas and whirlpools.
