North West Castle Hotel Stranraer

What the Papers Say about North West Castle Hotel

Aideen McLaughlin, Sunday Herald magazine, September 2005

“Literally a stone’s throw from the Stranraer to Belfast ferry, a stay can easily be combined with a shopping weekend in Northern Ireland’s capital, otherwise just escape here for a few days.

"Warm, friendly and incredibly relaxing, the aura of this old-style hostelry reminds you why Scots used to holiday in Scotland.

“The North West Castle retains much of the charm and grandeur of its Georgian roots ... the rooms are large, comfortable and have a sea view.

“The dining experience is what most appear to come for. The menu is stylishly cooked and presented. I’m a dairy free customer which many establishments seem to struggle with but here nothing was too much trouble and the chef was willing to adapt any dish to my requirements. The wine list is vast yet keenly selected, and the staff are warm and very attentive throughout.”
