Agnew Park - offers a fantastic day out for all ages, starting with a miniature railway that takes you on a full tour of the park so you can see what's on offer! You'll find an awesome 18 hole putting green (please note this is not mini or crazy golf, it's golf golf!), plus an adventure play island featuring exciting and innovative play equipment! The Boating lake here is another great attraction for families, with a range of variously sized boats to hire, including pedalos, skiffs, and canoes!
Logan Botanic Garden - lies at the south-western tip of Scotland, and it is unrivalled as the country's most exotic garden. Wonder at the groves of eucalypts and at the Gunnera Bog in the Woodland Garden. Enjoy the brilliant blooms of southern hemisphere plants in the Walled Garden. This is a showcase for tender plants, and provides a blaze of colour all year round. Visit the Discovery Centre, and unearth the intriguing history of the Logan Botanic Garden, from its foundation to its current wealth of plant collections.
Logan Fish Pond - allows you to see Scottish marine life and amazing geology with a unique pond that is 8ft deep with a 22ft diameter. It holds 48,000 gallons of water and the height from the top of the wall to the bottom is 35ft-40ft. There are usually approximately 50 fish in the main pond mainly; Cod, Pollack, Coalfish, Turbot, Plaice, Dab, Bull Huss, Wrasse, Gurnards, Conger Eels, Mullet, Nurse Hounds and other species.
7 Stanes Glentrool - is a mountain biking trail with a wide range of gentle to exhilarating rides and with a Visitors Centre and local bike hire. Set in Galloway Forest, Glentrool offers wild windswept riding side by side with history and nature and offers biking trails for everyone, no matter what their level of skill or ability and they aim to provide a great day out for all the family with many trails offering bike hire locally as well.
Kirroughtree Visitor Centre - come and see how artists have been inspired by Galloway Forest Park! The sculptures are found throughout the park and are waiting to be discovered; some are sited along popular routes, while others are hidden away for the kids to discover! Kids will love coming across them and being the first to spot one, keeping up with them is the only problem!
Kirroughtree has an extensive woodland play area that will delight and entertain most kids under 10. There is a variety of play equipment to encourage swinging, spinning, climbing and sliding, what's not to love?! There's also the Wild Watch Hide to be found, which is purportedly just behind an excellent spot to find red squirrels and woodland birds, so if you see it nip and keep schtum and see what you can see!
Monreith Animal World - has animals for all tastes from the cute and cuddly to the big and ugly! Their range of pleasingly recognizable animals include Otters, Owls, Alpacas, Donkeys, Waterfowl, Shetland Ponies, Poultry, Pigs, Belted Galloway Cattle, Degus, Persian Jirds, Foreign Finches, Peacocks and many Aviary Birds too! There are also Rabbits, chicks and Guinea Pigs which can often be handled.
Creetown Gem Rock Museum - is regarded as one of the finest private collections of gemstones, crystals, minerals, rocks and fossils in Great Britain. Crystals and minerals are some of natures most outstanding creations and the collection demonstrates this with many fine specimens of world class standard on display. The Museum is however, more than just a static display, it is a fully interactive experience with lots of things to do as well as to see.
Castle Kennedy Gardens - span over 75 acres of paradise in the South West of Scotland. Visit the gardens for a family day out. Castle Kennedy Gardens have a programme of events throughout the year along with open air theatre.
