Stranraer Golf Course with North West Castle

Stranraer Golf Club situated close to North West Castle  and the surrounding McMillan Hotels was the final golf course to be designed by the highly esteemed James Braid, who was a 5 times Open champion.

Situated in South West Scotland on the shores of Loch Ryan, the 6308 yard parkland course is set on gently undulating ground. It offers its visitors and players exceptional views over the loch to Ailsa Craig, the Isle of Arran and beyond.

Visiting golfers, whether they are guest, visitors or local players from the Dumfries and Galloway area find the course a delight to play throughout the year. The warm wash off the Gulf Stream provides the region with a mild climate making play possible on all but a handful of days throughout the year.

It is the goal for all staff at the North West Castle Hotel to ensure that a game on this skillfully designed course, complimented by genuine hospitality, remains a day or break that is etched in your memory for years to come.

Stranraer Golf Course

The course was designed in 1950 by the distinguished golf course architect, the late James Braid who was also involved in designing such great courses as Gleneagles, Rosemount, Carnoustie and Dalmahoy.

His spirit lives on in this classic championship course at Stranraer.
